Why buy a cymbal unheard?
Buying a cymbal online has always been a gamble. I take a lot of care to record each cymbal as faithfully as I can, so the demo is as close as possible to what I hear in my room. Even so, it has been through my microphones and my mix, then over the internet and out of your speakers, or your phone. And then it arrives in your room, with your sticks, played your way.
Buy Unheard cymbals come straight off the anvil and lathe, before I've let them rest or made the demo. Instead of a sound file, you get the cymbal itself to read: the top, the bottom, the profile, and my notes on how I made it. I think a cymbal tells you a lot by how it looks. I don't mean cosmetics, I mean structure.
It's for players who enjoy getting to know a cymbal, and who are happy to take a chance in return for a lower price. If it turns out not to be for you, you can move it on.
Buying unheard: this cymbal is made with the same spirit of exploration and experimentation as everything I make. The lower price simply reflects the time I save on resting, filming and demoing it.
My returns policy
Each cymbal stays here for 72 hours. If it doesn't find a home, it gets demoed and goes into the shop at full price.
