A simple tool for estimating the equivalent weight of a cymbal at a different diameter.
Enter the diameter and weight of a cymbal you already know. The calculator uses those values to establish a simple weight-to-surface-area relationship.
Enter a target diameter and it will estimate the weight required to maintain the same relationship. This can be useful when planning a larger or smaller version of an existing cymbal, or when deciding what weight of blank to order.
This is a rough guide. It compares weight against only surface area. Profile, bell size, taper, thickness distribution, hammering and lathing can all significantly affect how a cymbal feels and behaves.
