How to use this calculator.

This calculator is intended as a basic guide to help cymbalsmiths determine roughly what weight cymbal they need to make, or cymbal blank they need to order.

Cymbal 1 Diameter and Cymbal 1 Weight are the known quantities of the guide cymbal / blank.

Enter these quantities to find the density of the material correct to two decimal places. (Keep in mind that this is the basic density and does not take into consideration taper, weight distribution or any other factors.)

The Density value will appear.

Fill in Cymbal 2 Diameter with the size cymbal you intend to make, and Weight Required will give you the target weight for the finished cymbal or blank to order.
